From Boardrooms to Breathwork: The Journey to Awake in Love

I arrived in the United States at eighteen with a suitcase and no knowledge of the English language. Like many who seek a new beginning, I spent my early years balancing the exhaustion of manual labor with the rigor of academia—working cleaning and administrative jobs by day while studying by night.

That drive led me to earn three degrees in Criminal Justice, Political Science, and a Doctorate in Law, each with a minor in Psychology. I climbed the corporate ladder, eventually managing multi-million dollar commercial litigation trials, practicing immigration law, and serving as an HR executive. On paper, I had mastered the "external" world of logic, strategy, and high-pressure negotiation.

However, 2015 taught me a vital lesson: The body keeps the score of our stress. My life took an unexpected turn that shifted my entire perspective on health and success. Despite being a non-smoker and a regular gym-goer, both of my lungs collapsed without warning. I was placed in a two-week medically induced coma; when my body stopped responding to treatment, doctors nearly gave up hope. I woke up to a body that had lost its muscle and a mind facing brain damage. Yet, within just five months, I taught myself to walk again, healed my cognitive function, passed my law school semester, and successfully helped a law firm launch its first Boston office. This ordeal was my first profound lesson in the language of the body—I realized that the "hustle" had disconnected me from my own nervous system, —like so many high-achievers—had become disconnected from my own physical language and my breath was the key to coming back to life.

The Birth of Awake in Love

Awake in Love was born from my own transition into "inner work." I discovered that the true potential we all seek isn't found in a title or a trial win, but in the quiet communication between our heart and our nervous system.

My approach combines my background in psychology and leadership with the transformative power of Breathwork, Meditation, and Coaching. I believe that before we can heal or grow, we must feel safe. My mission is to:

  • Reset the Nervous System: Use breathwork to move out of "survival mode" and into a state of physiological safety.

  • Decipher the Language of the Body: Help you understand the signals your body is sending so that physical sensations become a guide rather than a threat. Create an internal environment where you can finally listen to what your heart has to say.

  • Foster Presence in the Now: Cultivate the capacity to meet every moment with focus and equanimity. By mastering the art of being present, you move from a state of reacting to your environment to a state of consciously inhabiting and creating your life.

Today, I leverage the discipline of a legal career and the empathy of a practitioner to help others step out of the "hustle" and into their true selves. At Awake in Love, we don't just find peace; we build the safety required to live fully.
